The Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed 900-Watt Juicer: A Review
After I was done with college, I rarely ever used a juicer again. For many years my old Philips juicer stood in a forgotten corner of the kitchen cabinet collecting dust like a childhood toy I had abandoned. It had been a gift from my mother when she realized I was eating anything and everything at college – ramen, greasy fries and every ‘instant food’ in between. The juicer helped me clean up my lifestyle – I discovered a whole new world of green juices and delicious fruit juices I could whizz up in a few minutes!
But the machine took some painstaking cleaning and back home after college, I forgot about it. It was only recently, when I came across a blog post about the smart and easy to clean Breville juicer that my interest peaked again. So I bought myself the BJE510XL, and I was so excited to use it that I wanted to share my experiences here.
The Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed 900 W juicer I’m talking about is a centrifugal type juicer. This kind of juicer separates the pulp from the juice at extremely high speeds. So it’s great for extracting the most juice from most veggie or fruit except the very soft kinds like Banana.
Important features of the Breville
Here’s a look at some of the key features that make the Breville highly efficient.
What sets the Breville juicer apart is its smart chip that switches between various speeds and power to the blades depending on your ingredients. It comes with a high-powered 900-watt stainless steel extractor that can deliver 5 speeds, between 6500 rpm and 12500 rpm. The speed is important because the faster the extractor spins, the more juice will separate from the pulp. I’ve found that softer fruit and green leafy veggies like spinach and cantaloupes are best run at 6500 rpm. Tough beets and crisp apples and other dense fruit are juiced best at 12500 rpm.
Wide mouthed feed shoot
An excellent design feature is the feed chute which is 3 inches wide. So you don’t need to chop ingredients before you juice them, which is great when you’re in a hurry. Also, the chute is placed above the shredding disc, which is better than having the ingredients fed in from the side of the disc.
Thirdly, the patented Nutri Disc blades are reinforced with titanium. This keeps them sharp for longer than ordinary stainless steel. And a mesh filter basket of stainless steel helps to spin out the pulp more efficiently.
Juice bag and froth separator
The Breville also includes a great 1.2-litre juice jug that is equipped with a froth separator. The spout is detachable, so it’s easier to clean with the additional cleaning brush.
Who Can Use the Breville?
The The Breville BJE510XL Juice Fountain Multi-Speed 900-Watt Juicer is for anyone who wants to be able to get the most nutrients from their fruit and veggie juices. This includes athletes and sportspersons, health food junkies, health food cafes and harassed mums to name a few! The Breville throws out pulp that is almost dry, so you know it’s doing its job.
Easy to use
The Breville is super-efficient because of its automatic and variable speed control feature. Combined with the high-quality Nutri Disc and the pulp spinner, as well as the wide feed chute, you can whizz up juices in a few seconds.
The body of the machine is made of strong die cast alloys and top grade stainless steel. The parts are dishwasher safe. An automatic overload protection mechanism also protects the machine by shutting it down when it senses overload.
While the juicer is not whisper-soft when it runs, it has a stabilizing system that controls noise and vibration quite effectively to a reasonable level. It is also far easier to clean than many other models in the market. This is because of the separation of the pulp during juicing, which is then pushed into the sides and into a separate container. Thus there is no pulp to be cleaned from awkward nooks and crannies inside the machine, which is what I love about it.
Protective heat control
The machine also keeps heat transfers to within 1.8F of heat to the ingredients inside. This protects the healthy enzymes in the food.
The Breville just misses out on perfection by being somewhat unsuitable to juice very soft, pulpy fruits like berries and bananas. Even if you run them with the slowest speed on, these fruits have a tendency to quickly slip into the sides without yielding much juice. This is a minor problem however, and a way around it is to run the berries in a blender before adding them to the other juices in the Breville.
Is it value for money?
The Breville is not exactly cheap as far as juicers go. But I’d say that like any product, you get what you pay for. The Breville gives you speed, efficiency, more nutrition and more juice, less wastage, and easier cleaning. My verdict: the Breville is highly recommended for healthy juice-making and an energetic, radiant life.
